A VBF (Vehicle Binary File) is a container format used by JLR to deliver firmware and coding to modules like ECUs, clusters, or chassis controllers. The IVS format allows for VIN-specific pre-configuration supported by Pathfinder with Dealer Access or SX-TOOL Co's Middleware.

These files are used for:

• ECU replacement or repair
• Fixing corrupted module firmware
• Resynchronizing after an immobilizer reset
• Restoring factory settings after retrofits or upgrades

By default, IVS/VBF files are linked to the as-built CCF from the JLR factory cloud.
